Each year the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians gives each county high school the chance to give a $1,500 scholarship to a student planning to attend Umpqua Community College.

Yoncalla High School has chosen Brett Andry for the award. His academics and generosity to his school and community made him stand out. He hopes to earn an associate’s degree and then transfer to a four-year university and study teaching.

Scholarships are based on scholastic effort and commitment, potential for college-level work, good citizenship and behavior, and motivation and industriousness.
