Many Thanks to the Cow Creeks

The Roseburg News Review--January 18, 2007

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR:

The Days Creek and Tiller Schools feel blessed that the Cow Creek Tribe provides extra support for life enriching programs above and beyond the legally required grants distributed by the Cow Creek Foundation.

Dear Editor:

Days Creek Charter School would like to extend its warm gratitude to the Cow Creek Indian Foundation for a grant to purchase new sewing machines.

The 10 new machines will replace machines that are 34 years old. Through miscommunication, we did not attend the grant ceremony and we feel just terrible about that. We ask the Foundation to accept our apologies with our thanks.

Though some criticize the giving of grants saying the Tribe is required by law to share profits, Days Creek/Tiller schools have been blessed with extra support from the Tribe itself -- above and beyond legal requirements of the Foundation.

Our FFA team has traveled to national competitions for two years in a row thanks to the support of the Cow Creek Tribe of Umpqua Indians.

Many, many thanks to the Foundation and the Tribe.
