Canyonville Casino Resort Expands on its Amenities

The Roseburg News Review—May 21, 2007

More than 1,000,000 guests visit Seven Feathers Hotel & Casino Resort annually…and the number of visitors is growing. The tribe has substantial expansion plans to accommodate everyone.

STIX, the sports bar that opened in the casino in 2003, began expansion in 2007. In fact, it will nearly double.

The square footage of the main area is growing from 1,400 square feet to nearly 2,650 square feet.

It closed in April and construction is scheduled to be finished by the Fourth of July.

What was the oldest kitchen on the property, used for the bingo hall that eventually led to Seven Feathers 15 years ago, will also triple in size.

"Which tells you that the menu is also going to be expanded," said Susan Ferris, spokeswoman for the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians.

The tribe owns the resort and the restaurant expansion is part of a plan for future growth down the line, including more rooms and a spa.

Larry Lydick, director of food and beverage at the resort, said the menu at STIX will feature new dishes like pizza and Italian sausage sandwiches.

"We're working on many other things," Lydick said.

STIX patrons will also be able to watch numerous events on the more than 20 flat-screen televisions placed throughout the bar.

That is, of course, for those who want to take a break from gambling. Seven Feathers is a full Nevada-style casino with slot machines, table games, live poker, keno and bingo.

The casino has non-smoking gambling areas as well.

The hotel has an indoor heated pool, two spas, a sauna, fitness center and game room. Valet parking attendants greet visitors as they drive in.

Seven Feathers also features an ice cream parlor, gift shop, 24-hour restaurant, a live entertainment cabaret with a full bar and the Camas Room, an elegant gourmet restaurant that features Pacific Northwest and Mediterranean cuisine.

Seven Feathers plays host to a variety of entertainment options throughout the year as well, from musical acts to professional boxing.

Across the highway from the main resort is new Seven Feathers RV Resort. It opened last summer after four years of construction.

It has 190 spaces among 23 acres of lawns and landscaping. The park has a heated pool and spa, fitness room, media center, gift shop and gathering facility.

More than one million guests visit Seven Feathers Hotel & Casino resort each year.
